Why I Don’t Like Halloween – by Wise Cat Sid

Humans have invented many strange traditions. But Halloween may be their strangest.

For most of the year, if somebody knocks on the door wearing a mask, you probably wouldn’t let them in. On Halloween, apparently, you give them sweets.

I have questions.

1. The Doorbell Never Stops 🔔

Every few minutes: DING DONG! Another tiny human appears dressed as a ghost, a witch or something with far too many legs. A wise cat needs his peace and quiet.

2. Please Don’t Dress the Cat 🎭

Humans sometimes think cats look adorable in Halloween costumes. Cats often have a different opinion. I already have a magnificent fur coat — I do not require a tiny vampire cape.

3. Suspicious Pumpkins Everywhere 🎃

Suddenly there are glowing orange faces sitting on doorsteps. Humans call them decorations. I call them suspicious vegetables. And if there’s a candle inside, I’ll be keeping my whiskers well away.

4. Chocolate? No Thank You 🍫

Humans seem very excited about Halloween chocolate. Sid’s advice to cats: leave it to the humans. Chocolate can be dangerous for cats — and frankly, I’d rather have a nice piece of chicken.

5. Everything Is Suddenly Spooky 👻

Cobwebs appear indoors, skeletons hang from walls and perfectly sensible houses start making strange noises. Humans call this fun. I prefer a warm windowsill and an afternoon nap.

🐾 Sid’s Halloween Wisdom

“If the world becomes noisy and strange, find somewhere quiet, curl up and wait for the humans to return to normal. It usually takes until breakfast.”

Stay wise, stay cosy, and keep your paws away from the chocolate!🐾
